What to bring Ok so you've booked your Garda Ride bespoke holiday!
What do you need to bring? Firstly of course, Yourself. (Details of airlines that fly to Italy can be found below) Verona airport is the closest and easiest to use, however Milano Bergamo is also within a short transfer time.
You will also need your bicycle! This can fly with you but you will be charged for Off size sports equipment. The average charge is £30 each way but please read the airlines small print as they don't actually guarantee your bike will be flown! Sounds unbelievable doesn't it?
We also offer a bike and kit transfer service subject to availability. Just £50 will safely transfer your bike with one kit bag to Italy and returned. We will also prep the bike so it's ready to ride for you. Of course you will need to deliver the bike to our UK base in its travel container a minimum of 3 days prior to your flight to Italy.
Riding kit. You must wear a helmet. No helmet no ride. On some decents you can top nearly 70mph! General riding kit is advised. Jerseys, Shorts and Base layers as standard but please bring a rain jacket and a longer sleeve jersey. Riding glasses with different lens are worth while also and a skull cap or similar to help with sweat. Drinks bottles and your personal choice of sports drink. (Water is supplied!)
We have a nice stock of spare tubes, tyres, cables etc and full workshop. There is also a great bike shop a short drive away where you can buy any other parts you may need! A nice discount has been negotiated with Manuel, the owner of Manuel Bike
Lastly, don't be a Hero! Some of the climbs are steep! And I do mean steep! The Garmin recorded a 27% kick on one particular climb we often use. You will need to run either a compact drive ratio or large ratio rear cassette. In Italy we don't walk up hills!
